Hopping into Easter: Craft, Songs and Activities for Meaningful Easter Fun

Easter is a special time of year that offers more than just chocolate eggs. We believe in creating meaningful moments that help children connect, create, and celebrate in joyful, engaging ways.

With a little imagination, Easter can become a time for fun, learning, bonding as well as exploring traditions.

Here are some of our favourite Easter-inspired craft ideas, songs and activities to try in your centre or at home:

Easter Craft

Easter-themed crafts offer a fantastic opportunity to explore colour, pattern, and storytelling with children. Think beyond the typical egg decorating! Try:

  • Bunny masks using recycled cardboard, cotton balls and elastic
  • Handprint chicks or bunnies that double as keepsakes
  • Nature-based egg baskets made from twigs, leaves, or paper strips
  • Easter hats for a mini parade, encouraging creativity and confidence

Sing and Dance into the Season

Music brings Easter magic to life! Introduce songs that are easy to sing and move to:

  • Hop like a bunny with a song that explores tempo and rhythm
  • Use percussion instruments (like egg shakers) to accompany songs
  • Create a group movement activity—hopping, clapping, or tiptoeing like sneaky Easter bunnies

Of course, Bonkers Beat, we like to commemorate every occasion with a song, and Easter is no exception. Our song ‘Easter Bunny’ is a playful one that kids (and adults!) will love – you can access it free here.

Egg-cellent Easter Activities

Turn everyday learning into Easter-inspired fun:

  • Easter Egg Hunts with a twist: hide puzzle pieces or letter clues instead of chocolate
  • Story time with Easter tales from different cultures or classics like Guess How Much I Love You
  • Mindful moments using Easter themes, such as imagining soft bunny fur or the smell of fresh grass in spring

Easter is About Togetherness

Easter is a beautiful reminder of renewal and community. Celebrate the spirit of Easter by:

  • Encouraging children to make cards for loved ones or aged care residents
  • Talking about kindness, giving, and gratitude
  • Focusing on connection and creativity (with a few chocolate eggs too!)

Let’s create Easter memories that are meaningful, musical and full of joy — for the children in our care and for ourselves too.
